Ms. Shannon Liston, M.Ed.

Ms. Liston has been the site coordinator for the Seniors Plus for a little over a year now.  Her favorite thing about working with this program is the positive relationships you build with the students. This program allows students a unique second opportunity at obtaining their high school diploma. It is truly awesome watching these students work so hard to overcome some pretty significant obstacles to reach their goals. Seeing the sense of accomplishment on their face as they receive their diploma is the best part of the job!  For Undergraduate she attended Knox College in Galesburg, IL where she Majored in Psychology and minored in History. After graduation she began working for the Illinois Student Assistance Commission as an Outreach Worker. Ms. Liston has worked mainly in rural high school districts, providing financial aid and college preparation services to low-income students and families.  She then went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in School and Community/Clinical Counseling from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. While in Grad School she worked as a case manager at Albany Care, a Psychiatric treatment and care facility in Evanston, IL.  Ms. Liston then went on to complete her Practicum and Internship at Wheeling High School.  After graduation she wanted to continue working with an At-Risk population and was fortunate to find that opportunity with West 40.
